So, the Screen Actors Guild (aka SAG) awards, with their TERRIBLE lack of punctuation, is no more and instead we have the ‘Actor Awards 2026’. These were announced last night and normally provide some clarification as to what might happen in the Oscars in just two week’s time. But instead, we have some surprises that perhaps make the predictions still harder.
Here is where the awards went.
Outstanding Performance by a cast in a Motion Picture
The nominations and winner were:
- “Frankenstein“
- “Hamnet“
- “Marty Supreme“
- “One Battle After Another“
- “Sinners“ (WINNER)
I could have argued the win for One Battle instead, but this is a worthy winner in my book.

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role
- TimothĂ©e Chalomet: “Marty Supreme“
- Leonardo DiCaprio: “One Battle After Another“
- Ethan Hawke: “Blue Moon“
- Michael B Jordan “Sinners” (WINNER)
- Jesse Plemons “Bugonia“
After the surprise win of ‘home favourite’ Robert Aramayo at the BAFTAs, we have another upset to make the Best Actor Oscar winner less certain!
Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role
- Jessie Buckley: “Hamnet“ (WINNER)
- Rose Byrne: Â “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You”
- Kate Hudson: “Song Sung Blue“
- Chase Infiniti:Â “One Battle After Another“
- Emma Stone: “Bugonia“
No surprise there. Surely this is a clean sweep for Buckley.
Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role
- Miles Caton: Â “Sinners“
- Benicia Del Toro:Â “One Battle After Another“
- Jacob Elordi: Â “Frankenstein“
- Paul Mescal:Â “Hamnet“
- Sean Penn:Â “One Battle After Another“ (WINNER)
Following the BAFTA award, Sean Penn starts to look like a favourite for this one at the Oscars.
Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role
- Odessa A’zion:Â “Marty Supreme“
- Ariana Grande: “Wicked: For Good“
- Amy Madigan:Â “Weapons” (WINNER)
- Wunmi Mosaku:Â “Sinners“
- Teyana Taylor:Â “One Battle After Another“
In one of the most open categories, I’d have been happy with anyone but Grande for this one. Amy Madigan will probably be my choice on the night.
Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture
- “F1“
- “Frankenstein“
- “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning“ (WINNER)
- “One Battle After Another“
- “Sinners“
No arguments from me for Cruise and his madcap team!
